Office of Adjudication

The Office of Adjudication (OAD) is the administrative hearing body within the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA). OAD conducts contested case (trial-type) hearings for individuals and businesses for alleged violations of the DCRA Civil Infractions Act of 1985. OAD also conducts hearings for all DCRA administrations and other District of Columbia agencies as requested.

OAD's mission is to conduct formal and impartial administrative hearings in a timely, professional manner, with respect for the parties' due process rights. Professional administrative law judges and hearing examiners hear cases in an independent forum for the resolution of contested matters between the government and citizens.
